🎺 The Musical Roots
Jeff Mills grew up marching to the rhythm of real instruments, literally in Huntington Beach, California. He was born in Riverside, CA in 1970. He's old, but not that old. "Young in heart", they would say!
He played trumpet and French horn in high school—jazz band, marching band, the full symphonic experience.
But it wasn’t enough. He always wanted to play guitar. He didn’t touch one until he turned 21—and when he finally picked it up, he taught himself everything while in college.
As a former youth pastor, Jeff didn’t just bring sermons.
He built bands—teaching kids how to work together, play instruments, and create a joyful noise.
They weren’t professionals.
They were family.
And Jeff loved every second of it.
Youth Band Sundays always packed the church, as people loved the new music.
He went on to play in other praise and worship teams for a few years in different churches…
But then - life happened. Music faded into the background. The dream got buried.
Until now.

He dived in.
